EH&E Launches Affordable Support Solution to Help Hospitals Prepare for Unannounced Surveys

NEWTON, MA (February 13, 2006) – EH&E, a leading provider of health & safety and engineering consulting services, has introduced an Environment of Care (EOC) compliance support site to enable small & mid-sized hospitals to meet the new JCAHO requirement for continuous compliance.

The affordable knowledge-based solution, called “eH&E–Healthcare”, enables the EOC team to more efficiently manage documents and data within this complex compliance area. It also promotes program continuity during personnel changes within the group.

“We developed this product first to address the needs of our own team who oversee EOC operations at a large research hospital in Boston. Now we feel ready to pass a JCAHO survey on a moment’s notice, and we’re offering this system to other hospitals faced with the same challenge,” said Jack McCarthy, President and co-founder of EH&E.

eH&E–Healthcare offers a complete EOC workspace through a web-based portal, and in a very affordable way. The portal provides a single point of access to all critical documents and data, and includes tools, databases and document templates to facilitate easy program access and maintenance. A compliance calendar tracks all routine requirements and can send email notifications if desired. Moreover, eH&E–Healthcare provides direct access to EH&E’s experienced team of EOC experts and engineers.

A free whitepaper detailing the solution, Continuous JCAHO Compliance: Responding to the 2006 Unannounced Survey Policy within the Environment of Care is available for download from: http://www.eheinc.com/jcaho.htm

For Jim Treweek, Environmental Compliance Coordinator for Commonwealth Communities Hospitals, in Stoughton and Braintree, Massachusetts, eH&E–Healthcare offered a solution for managing a program that spans three separate facilities.

“I am primarily responsible for managing construction projects, so I am only devoted part-time to EOC compliance,” Treweek said. “The eH&E–Healthcare site organizes the entire program such that I, or any team member, can access the program quickly and from anywhere to verify the status and contribute information. The Hazard Surveillance Assistant has saved us all a great deal of time as well, but certainly the most valuable aspect in my view is having help from EH&E experts a finger tip away.”

Microsoft-based, Web-enabled

eH&E–Healthcare is built on Microsoft’s® Windows SharePoint platform, a powerful web-based project collaboration tool, thus allowing users to easily customize and integrate the eH&E–Healthcare application with all their Microsoft Office products, including Outlook.

The eH&E–Healthcare site features:

  • Over 50 templates for required documentation, including Management Plans, Annual Evaluations, No-Smoking Policies, Product Recall Policy and Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Over 15 customizable databases, including; Required Permits, Safety Committee Meetings, Hazard Vulnerability Analysis, and Hazardous Waste Tracking Records.
  • EPA Multi-Media Compliance Audit.
  • Hazard Surveillance Assistant automatically tracks surveys and generates detailed reports.
  • Auto-notification via email of upcoming deadlines such as permit expirations and refresher training.
  • Access via email or phone to expert advice on a wide variety of compliance and health & safety issues.
