EH&E performs initial and periodic tests of installed fume hoods as part of the laboratory ventilation management program (in accordance of ANSI/AIHA Z9.5-2003 American National Standard for Laboratory Ventilation).
The performance of the laboratory fume hood under “AU” (as used) conditions when initially installed should include the ASHRAE 110–1995 performance test. The ASHRAE 110 test consists of four parts:
Periodic performance tests of the face velocity measurements/grid tests and smoke visualization test are required at least on an annual basis and when repairs of a fume hood occur.
EH&E can perform the ASHRAE 110 testing and provide certification documentation for each fume hood tested.
EH&E will provide the necessary equipment, documentation and engineering support to perform the biosafety cabinet (BSC) testing and field verification program. The BSC management program includes:
-
Test, certify and tag BSC in accordance with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) Standard 49-2002 for the field certification of biological safety cabinets, Class II. Certification conducted by NSF-accredited service technicians.
-
Field certification primary physical tests (NSF Std.) include:
-
Certification documentation for each cabinet tested.
-
Assist in training on proper use of BSCs.
-
Provide assistance in troubleshooting problems with BSC equipment and contamination.
-
Monitoring proper decontamination, testing, and recertification of BSCs that have been repaired or moved to a new location.
