EH&E’s multi-disciplinary team of professional engineers and certified industrial hygienists can help you avoid potential indoor air quality (IAQ) problems caused by renovation activities. Taking precautionary measures helps to ensure that your organization’s renovation program is completed with minimal impact on occupant comfort, health and safety. EH&E offers assistance in the following areas:

  • Development of effective construction zone containment programs.
  • Selection of safe building materials—review material safety data sheets for chemical content and toxicity assessments.
  • Identify and develop procedures to address issues related to workspace access, supplies/waste, utility systems, environmental control, infection control, safety and communications.
  • Identify critical zones (particularly sterile zones in healthcare facilities).
  • Establish construction site cleanliness programs to minimize dust contamination.
  • Monitor on-site air quality during construction for contaminants (e.g., microbiological, particulate, volatile organic compounds) with respect to the HVAC system.
  • Develop Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) for site-specific issues.
