Hospitals are dynamic and unique environments that introduce traditional as well as new workplace hazards for all hospital employees. Effective management of these hazards is essential to ensure Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance as well as a safe and healthful work environment.
Our service is designed specifically to help healthcare institutions meet OSHA regulatory requirements. It is an expert evaluation of your existing program in order to identify potential hazards and/or regulatory deficiencies and to prioritize the overall health and safety needs of your institution. The service includes the following four phases.
Phase 1: Documentation and Program Review
Includes relevant Occupational Safety & Health (OS&H) program documents such as:
-
Hazard Communication Policy
-
Bloodborne Pathogens Policy

Phase 2: Site Inspection and Work Environment Survey
Includes a walkthrough of representative locations of your facility, based on EH&E’s extensive experience in healthcare environments with input from hospital stakeholders. The site walkthrough will target critical areas, including a random sample of non-critical areas.
Phase 3: Compliance Assessment and Program Gap Analysis
EH&E will identify gaps in compliance and highlight areas for improvement, identifying specific OSHA compliance concerns as well as high level management concerns.
Phase 4: OS&H Status Report Recommendations and Presentations
EH&E will provide a final report and presentation including recommendations to improve overall OS&H program performance. This information will be summarized in a prioritized action list based on compliance implications and/or serious injury or illness.
