eH&E-Healthcare Key Features and Benefits

Centralizes All Critical EC Program Information

eH&E-Healthcare provides access to information in a format that is much more accessible to team members and to administration than a network drive.  eH&E–Healthcare’s customizable calendar and task management tools help ensure required tasks are not forgotten and minimizes vulnerability during personnel changes (tasks can be easily re-assigned). Hospital managers and administrators can check the status of specific areas without assigning personnel to research the information.

The site home page provides central access to all EC program information in a Joint Commission-organized fashion.  It can be customized to the hospital’s needs, and graphics can be added to track key metrics.

Pre-formatted databases are available to track and display information.  Some, such as the drug formulary , contain useful information such as classification and disposal information for hazardous drugs.

Other databases track information that can be hard to find at survey time.  An example is a list of the various permits required for operation.

 Data Collection and Reporting Tools

The Environment of Care (EC) program is data intensive in several areas and without software help the collection of data, and especially the reporting, is not performed regularly as required.  The eH&E–Healthcare site provides several key database tools to improve efficiency and compliance including a Hazard Surveillance Assistant, a Pre-Construction IC Risk Assessment program, and an ePFI (Plans for Improvement) database that allows easy periodic uploads directly to The Joint Commission (JC) database.  These tools streamline both the data collection and reporting process so that hospitals can accomplish much more without more effort.

The Hazard Surveillance Assistant is a very popular accessory.  It generates surveys that contain instructions (so area managers can complete their own) and generates a variety of automated reports  to those responsible for response, to the EC committee, and to the administration .  It also provides the complete feedback mechanism required by the JC.

The Pre-Construction IC Risk Assessment program automatically generates construction permits and inspection forms required for compliance.  This program provides the complete tracking mechanism required for hospitals that are involved in on-going construction activities.

All hospitals are required to enter their Plans for Improvement into their JC on-line database – typically a manual and time-consuming task.  Many hospitals also have a separate spreadsheet or tracking mechanism in-house to allow them to monitor their progress.  The ePFI database within the eH&E – Healthcare site is set up to track the information required for the JC and will generate a file that can be electronically uploaded.  The same database can also be customized to meet the day-to-day needs of the hospital.

 EC Program Resources

EH&E provides on-going EC support to many hospitals and we continually update our plans, policies, databases and training tools to meet our clients evolving requirements.  We centralize these documents and tools and make them available via eH&E–Healthcare to all clients, providing a single source for updated materials.  Examples include a hazardous drug waste database that includes disposal information, a hazardous drug program management template, and training presentations for hospital personnel.

Need a template for a management plan ?  How about materials for an OSHA – oriented employee training course?  Or a complete database that includes the Department of Homeland Security’s Chemicals of Interest list?  This information is all available to you via a centralized library, and is continually updated by EH&E.

A Single Source for EC Program Help

Probably the most valuable aspect of the eH&E – Healthcare site is the availability of our staff to answer questions concerning all aspects of the EC.  An EH&E account team provides all site users with both on-going site usage support (SharePointTM expertise) and a single point of contact for all EC-related questions.  Hospital personnel can save hours of time researching how new requirements apply to their situation by simply contacting their site account manager, who will do the research for them using EH&E’s own experts.  In some cases, our eH&E-Healthcare client network serves as its own support system and one client can help another with ideas for dealing with specific issues.
