EH&E’s interdisciplinary expertise and experience in risk management allows us to provide leadership and support to businesses during periods of crisis and uncertainty. Through a science-based approach, we properly characterize the situation and develop appropriate responses collaboratively with our clients. Our nationally and internationally recognized staff of scientists has experience interacting with the public, media and company personnel. We have successfully managed hundreds of projects aimed at reducing client exposure to risk.
Infectious Disease Outbreak
A multi-national bank experienced a disease outbreak in a local branch and considered suspending operations and alerting the media. EH&E analyzed the exposure potential, implemented an overnight disinfection protocol and concluded that bank operations could continue without risk to employees or customers.
Community and Occupational Risk Assessment
Community concern over pollutant exposure related to construction delayed a university expansion project for several months. EH&E conducted a comprehensive human health risk assessment and modeled the potential for exposure in the surrounding community. After demonstrating the negligible predicted health risk to the community, we implemented engineering and work practice controls to further minimize the potential for fugitive emissions, designed an employee and perimeter monitoring plan to verify modeled estimates, and setup an emergency response plan. As a result of these measures, the community and university health concerns were addressed quickly and effectively, and construction resumed.
